  • Facing a tough Blue Valley Southwest team Friday, the Lansing girls' soccer team did not back down.
However, as much as the Lions repelled the advances of the Timberwolves, it ultimately became too much.
After trailing 3-1 at half, the Lady Lions closed its 2013 regular season with a 5-1 loss.
“They played cleaner than us,” Lansing coach Billy Dillon said. “They were able to control the ball better. My defense played outstanding, but we just couldn't sustain an offensive push.”
Lansing received its first-half goal from Courtney Callahan.
With a 9-5-1 mark, the Lady Lions will find out its official regional first round matchup later today.
The postseason tournament is slated to start early next week.
