Officials from the Kansas Department of Corrections announced late Friday that the final of three escapees from Lansing Correctional Facility was apprehended that night in Topeka.
Inmate Randy Ridens, Sr, was apprehended at about 10:22 p.m. Friday night as he was entering
Topeka. He was immediately transported back to Lansing Correctional Facility. Ridens was the subject of a search centered in southern Leavenworth County Friday afternoon and evening.
Earlier in the evening, Allen Hurst and Scott Gilbert, the other two minimum custody escapees from
Lansing Correctional Facility, had been apprehended and taken into custody by law enforcement officers in Clinton County, Mo., following a police chase and an hours-long standoff in a private home.
All three inmates had been declared on escape status from the minimum unit at Lansing Correctional Facility at approximately 7:40 am earlier in the day.
