  • It was regional Monday for the local high school golf teams.
    From those, three individuals advanced onto next week's state competitions. Lansing's Luke Russell and Bryan Courtney qualified, as did Immaculata's Dawson Schroeder.
    Below are complete results for all the area squads.
    LANSING
    The Lions placed fifth as a team at its Class 5A regional meet in Topeka. The squad posted a 367 team score while Topeka Seaman was first overall with a 312.
    “The front nine was the toughest part of the course,” Lansing coach Bill Pekarek said. “It seemed like today, our guys struggled on the back and played the front better. I don't understand why, but that's how it works out.”
    * Luke Russell, 85 to tie for fifth and qualify for state
    * Bryan Courtney, 93 to qualify for state
    * Lance Hodges, 94
    * Brett Larimore, 96
    * Greg Garvey, 103
    * Cam Childs 104
    Next week's Class 5A state tournament will be at Brookridge Golf and Fitness in Overland Park.
    IMMACULATA
    The Raiders secured seventh at its Class 2A regional in Fort Scott. Imac accrued a 564 team score.
    “The highlight of the day was Dawson winning the fifth place medal, which qualifies him to represent Immaculata at the 2A state tournament next Monday,” Raiders coach Mike Williams said. “His front nine was very strong, a 42, and if he were able to keep that pace he could have finished as high as second.”
    * Dawson Schroeder, 93 to place fifth and qualify for state
    * Jacob Murphy, 135
    * Shelby Herring, 149
    * Jared Kloeker, 187
    Monday's Class 2A state tournament will be held at Mariah Hills Golf Course in Dodge City.
    LEAVENWORTH
    The Pioneers failed to qualify anyone for state by coming in seventh at its Class 5A regional meet in Topeka. LV shot a 456 team score.
    “The quality of play was decent, we just needed more experience,” Leavenworth coach Bob Hart, who is giving his duties this summer after 20-plus years of service. “There is talent there, it just needs practice.”
    * Allan Newell, 109
    * Jesse Rich, 112
    * Greg Timmons, 117
    * Zach Lake, 118
    * Brandon Tuttle, 118
