  • To the editor:
Along with the NRA's recent weekend presentation there was another presentation. This was a real-time, dash-cam putting you right in the policeman's seat.
Having stopped a driver for running a stop sign, the driver asserted his 2nd Amendment right, exiting his car blaring his AK-47 showering a barrage of bullets. This is not the usual event that is discounted by many as another aberration mass shooting. I get those; but this puts me in the victim's seat. I can see the bullets sprayed, one entering the windshield.
So, let's cut the B.S. We can complain about how you need your 2nd Amendment rights, that assault rifles, extended magazines are your right along with the right to own it. I get that.
My question to you is what are we to do about this harbinger of things to come? You can complain about proposals that don't work, so make one that does! Yes, this gentleman paid the ultimate price not unlike soldiers do; but, on the surface he was fighting that government that soldiers fight for.
Likewise, kids are shooting their brothers and sisters; 5-year-old shoots sister 3-year-old. What are we to do? Enforce better? Charge the parents of the child with manslaughter or the 5-year-old?
The aforementioned driver already got his judgment, dead. Yes, it is a touchy issue, but one that hopefully becomes not too touchy. As was once said, any restrictions or inconveniences are not for you or me, just the one behind the tree.
