Graduation Day is your day and you should be proud of your achievement.

To the editor:
Graduation Day is your day and you should be proud of your achievement. Your diploma is the starting point to your future as an adult, whether your next step is college, the military, or you are jumping right into the work force.

This is a monumental event in your life. Graduation Day is a time to reflect on the moments that you have shared with friends, family, and instructors who have impacted your life in a permanent way, and to look at the decisions you will soon be making. You probably feel it is a moment you have long awaited to achieve, but at the same time, it may seem ominous and rather threatening.
I would like to assure you that your experiences in education will serve you well, and you have attended a school that has been recognized for its ability to prepare you for the future, as Kansas schools have been acknowledged nationally for their high test scores in math and reading.

As you prepare to graduate and begin a new phase in your life, I ask you to register to vote and become an active voice for your belief system and principles in the community. We are privileged to be a part of the greatest form of government in the world and to preserve it, we need to be a part of it. This country was founded on a government "for the people, of the people, and by the people." Our involvement in that process is extremely important.
I congratulate you on working hard and achieving this worthy goal. You should be proud of your accomplishments. Best wishes for your future success and happiness.
