The Leavenworth County Lacrosse Club capped off its 2013 season in winning fashion last weekend.
On Sunday in the Kansas City Area Lacrosse Tournament at Blue Valley North, the Bulldogs were victorious in two of its final three games.
Before that competition, however, the squad was able to pull out a 4-1 victory over the Northland Lacrosse Club.
Lansing's Austin Rainville tossed in three goals for the Bulldogs, while Pleasant Ridge's Bradley Caya added the final tally.
In the opening round of the KC area tourney, Leavenworth County was hobbled by Rockhurst in a 10-1 loss. Kevin Remmenga of Leavenworth recorded the Bulldog's lone goal.
For game No. 2, the Bulldogs regrouped to knock off Lee's Summit West 8-2. Goal scorers included Remmenga (3), Rainville (2), Leavenworth's Dylan Why (2) and Leavenworth's Jon Bochtler.
The final Leavenworth County contest was a thriller against Shawnee Mission East, which the Bulldogs won 5-3.
Remmenga, Rainville and Why all scored goals, but it was Rainville's second goal with 25 seconds left in regulation that gave the team the win. He then nailed down the hat trick 22 seconds later when Justin Fonyi picked off a pass for the easy assist.
The Bulldogs finished the season with a 6-5 record. The program will sponsor a clinic this summer. For more info, contact the LV Parks and Rec department at 913-651-2203.
