  • A day before their commencement ceremony, Leavenworth High School seniors had the chance to put on their graduation gowns Friday for Senior Honors Night.
Senior Honors Night featured the presentation of numerous awards and scholarships to members of the graduating class.
Principal Tom Barry said Friday's ceremony was a celebration of excellence and scholarship.
"These students have exceeded my expectations in so many ways," he said.
Barry said he's impressed by the type of people the graduating seniors are in addition to their academic achievements.
More than 300 seniors are scheduled to graduate today at Leavenworth High School.
Barry asked them Friday to always remember they are pioneers at heart. The pioneer is the school mascot.
Seniors at Lansing High School are scheduled to graduate during a ceremony this morning. And seniors at Pleasant Ridge High School will graduate Sunday.
Immaculata High School seniors had their graduation May 11.
