With the score 1-1 the game and a berth to the class 5A state semi-finals were anyone's to claim. Unfortunately for the Lansing Lions soccer squad the game was broken wide open by their opponent and Kaw Valley League rival the Mill Valley Jaguars with two straight goals before the half.
The Lady Lions never recovered from that deficit and went on to get shut out in the second half and lose 6-1.
"We gave up a goal early and we were able to bounce back," Lansing coach Billy Dillon said. "We just gave up too many goals in the second half."
"It was a successful season, the ladies fought hard and improved throughout the season," Dillon said. "We are losing seven really good seniors and we hope to keep working hard next year to honor their legacy."
The Lady Lions finish the season with a 11-6-1 record.
