  • A Leavenworth man was taken into custody Thursday night after he allegedly drew a gun on his son-in-law and threatened to shoot him, a police spokesman said.
No injuries were reported. The gun that is alleged to have been used turned out to be a CO2 powered BB gun, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.
The incident was reported at 11:20 p.m. Thursday at a residence in the 1800 block of Fifth Avenue.
The 54-year-old suspect allegedly pointed the gun at his 40-year-old son-in-law. Both men live at the residence.
"The suspect informed officers he was just trying to get the victim to leave the house," Nicodemus said.
The suspect was arrested for allegations of aggravated assault, making a criminal threat and an aggravated weapons violation.
Nicodemus said the weapons violation is the result of the suspect reportedly having a previous felony conviction and being in possession of the CO2 gun. The deputy chief said that type of gun is included in the weapons violation law.
