  • Former Pioneer teacher added to Kansas Volleyball Association Hall of Fame

  • Gene Valentine, a former teacher at Leavenworth High School from 1969 to 1999, was posthumously selected to the 2013 class of the Kansas Volleyball Association Hall of Fame recently.

  • Gene Valentine, a former teacher at Leavenworth High School from 1969 to 1999, was posthumously selected to the 2013 class of the Kansas Volleyball Association Hall of Fame recently.
    Valetine officiated over 1,200 Kansas High School basketball games and over 2,200 volleyball matches including a number of state championship games.  In 2007, the former Pioneer educator was inducted into the Kansas State High School Activities Association Hall of Fame.    
    Valentine moved to Naples, Florida following his retirement and passed away on September 4, 2011.  He will be inducted to the KVA Hall of Fame on June 1 in Topeka.
