Justina H. Martin (Epp), 72, of Leavenworth, died peacefully, Friday, May 24, 2013, at her home, surrounded by family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 21, 1940, in Whitewater, Kan., the daughter of John and Marie (Harder) Epp Jr. On Dec. 23, 1974, she married Philip Martin. He survives at the home. She is also survived by her daughters, Shelly Parks (Andrew), Janith Cour (Thomas) and Dana Kendrick (Kevin); her grandchildren, Caleb Wright, Brianna Wright, Alexis Kendrick, Alex Kendrick and Adalyn Cour; her brothers, John Epp (Ruth), Albert Epp (Joann) and Melvin Epp (Sylvia); her sisters, Hildegard Goossen (Paul) and Phebe Cressman (David); her brothers in-law, Robert Martin (Kim) and William Martin; her sister in-law, Linda Clark; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by, her parents; two sisters, Martha Epp and Frieda Epp; and a son, Anthony "Tony" Martin. Justina earned a Bachelor's Degree at Sterling College and then a Masters of Education from Wichita State University. She was a 4th grade teacher at David Brewer Elementary for 29 years. Justina was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she played the piano and was the Sunday School Superintendent for many years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial to follow service at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Calvary Baptist Youth Group. The family would like to thank Sunflower Hospice employees for their services and care.
