Friday marked the beginning of the 20th annual 12-hour Relay for Life of Leavenworth County.


The 12-hour Leavenworth County Relay for Life, a benefit for the American Cancer Society, kicked off Friday evening at Richard Warren Middle School in Leavenworth.


The walk was the 20th annual such event for Leavenworth County, according to organizers. A total of 57 teams had signed up to take part in the relay. Pictured is Connor Lane walking with Maryann Sherley at the relay.


As of the beginning of the relay, the teams had raised over $101,000 of the relay's total goal of $125,000, according to Co-chairwoman Debra Taylor.
