Rebekah Williams, 11, plays with three Hula-Hoops Monday morning at Earl M. Lawson Elementary School. She used the hoops during an activity period for the Summer Read and Feed program.
The Summer Read and Feed program offers free meals and activities to children. It's being operated at the four elementary schools in the Leavenworth public school system. The program will run through July 26. The meals are funded through a federal program. The activities are funded by the Leavenworth Public Schools Education Foundation.
The breakfast and lunch meals being served at the schools are free to children between the ages of 1 and 18. Meals also are being served at Leavenworth High School during the month of June, but there are no other activities offered at this site.
