Elmer L Rush, 92, Leavenworth, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013. Elmer was born to Harlie and Emma (Keading) Rush, November 27, 1920 in Leavenworth Kan. Elmer was the oldest of six children, to include Milton, Terry, Verna Matazder, Deloris Martin, Emily Sternagle. He married Cleo J. Seymour, May 29, 1943 who preceded him in death in October 2009. Elmer is survived by two sons, Paul L. Rush of Merriam, Kan., and David S. Rush, (Cecilia Steinbach Rush) of Leavenworth, and 5 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  Elmer was a WWII veteran servicing in the Pacific 1944-1946 where he was awarded a Bronze Star.  He worked for Ft. Leavenworth for over thirty years, retiring in 1973.  Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 65 years and one sister, Verna Matzader and grandchild, Jason Bishop.  Elmer loved to travel and was a frequent resident during the winter months in Palm Springs Calif., and spent his summers at the Lake of the Ozarks..  The family would like to thank all the Staff at Twin Oaks Health and Rehabilitation along with the Hospice Partners of Kansas for their time and energy.  Family will receive friends Monday, June 17, 2013, 9-10  a.m., at the Davis Funeral Chapel, followed with a graveside service at the Mount Calvary Cemetery at 10:30 a.m.   Memorials should be made to Hospice Partners of Kansas.
