  • Margie A. Gillespie, 58 of Leavenworth, passed away Sunday, June 9th at a Kansas City Hospice.

  • Margie A. Gillespie, 58 of Leavenworth, passed away Sunday, June 9th at a Kansas City Hospice.
    Visitation will be Monday, June 17th, 2013 at the funeral home from 9 a.m. -1:30 p.m., with Graveside Services at 2 p.m., at Mount Muncie Cemetery, Lansing, Kan.
    A potluck will be held at 4 PM in the 4H building in Lansing.
    Margie was born July 8th, 1954 in Los Angeles, Calif., the daughter of John E. and Edna (Davis) Gillespie.
    Margie lived most of her life between Leavenworth, Kansas City, and Liberal, Kan.    Margie worked at several stores as a cashier, but enjoyed her role as mother, grandmother, and homemaker.
    Margie loved going to the Casino and spending time with her family and friends.
    Survivors include four daughters; Betina Savage and her husband Edward, Alta Valles, Patricia Fitzgerald and her partner Brian Mullins, and Kimberly Fitzgerald, one son; Lawrence Valles, two sisters; Alta Gomez, and Dorothy Gonzales and her husband Lee. Three brothers; John E. Gillespie, Jr, George Gillespie, and Terry Gillespie and his wife Lisa, twenty two grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, one son; Edward Valles, III,  one brother Loyde William Gillespie, Sr., one granddaughter, Monica Ann Hudson, and brother in law Jessie Gomez.
    A potluck will be held at 4 PM in the 4H building in Lansing.
    Memorials in her name may be directed to the funeral home in her memory.
