  • An inmate who had escaped Monday from the Lansing Correctional Facility's minimum security wing was taken back into custody Thursday evening.
Jeremy Barclay, special assistant to Kansas Department of Corrections Secretary Ray Roberts, said KDOC officials took Paul D. Cohagen into custody about 6:15 p.m. Thursday evening.
“We got him about 10 minutes ago,” Barclay said. “He was still in Leavenworth County. We were able to apprehend him peacefully and he is on his way back to LCF as we speak.”
Barclay said Cohagen, 43, was located in the northern portion of the county. Cohagen was put on escape status at about 5:10 p.m. Monday after walking away from the facility. A minimum security inmate who was serving out a sentence from an August 2011 Osage County vehicle burglary offense, his earliest release date before his escape had been in November this year.
