Thanks to its 10-2 record, the second/third grade Easton Rams baseball team recently finished in second place within its summer division.
“We had an excellent season,” head coach Bruce Simpson said. “The boys formed a family and all played very well together. Seven of the 11 boys have played ball together before and were aware of the hard competition and late night games in Jefferson County.
“The continuity of keeping the team together over the past couple of years helped us grow into a competitive team.”
The Rams play in the Jefferson County Baseball Association, though they hail from Leavenworth County.
League Opponents included Royal Valley, Valley Falls, Jefferson County North, Jefferson County West, Oskaloosa, Perry/Lecompton, Effingham and McLouth.
All of the boys attend Pleasant Ridge Elementary except for Evan Marshall and Tristan Simpson, who go to St. Paul Lutheran School
This week the team will compete in the Jefferson County Tournament at Royal Valley.
