  • A Leavenworth woman was arrested early Friday morning after she allegedly struck a man with a beer bottle, a police spokesman said.
The man suffered cuts from the broken bottle and received several stitches at the hospital, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.
The incident was reported at 3:17 a.m. Friday in the 900 block of Madison Street. The 29-year-old woman and 31-year-old man live together, and they apparently had an argument.
"She hit him several times with the bottle," Nicodemus said.
At least one of the blows was reported to have been to the man's head, causing a cut at the top of one of his ears. Other blows reportedly caused small scratches or cuts, according to Nicodemus.
The man was transported to the hospital by Leavenworth County EMS.
The woman was arrested for an allegation of aggravated battery.
It's believed the man and woman had been drinking alcohol, according to Nicodemus.
