Over 50 future baseball players, ages five to six, participated in a T-ball camp hosted by the Leavenworth High School baseball team and coaching staff throughout the month of June.
During the first two weeks, the players took part in a miniature T-ball clinic, learning the five basic skills of throwing, catching, fielding, base running and hitting.
“Baseball is a great game and getting these kids started on the fundamentals and basic concepts on the game is extremely important,” said Leavenworth head baseball coach Joe Allison.
After learning the basics of the game, the players moved onto bigger and better things.
The following two weeks were dedicated to playing actual contests between the kids.
“It was great to work with so many young players from the community,” Allison said. “The parent support for these kids was awesome to see and a vital part to their development as future Pioneer baseball stars.”
