  • Behind dominant pitching and potent hitting, Jaxx cruise to win

  • In the sixth inning, Geiger Ready-Mix strung together a streak of hits against LV Diamond Jaxx starter Corey Williams.
At the end of the hitting barrage, Geiger had pushed across three runs. However, that's all the team would walk away with by game's end.
Williams, who didn't allow a score until the sixth, put the clamps on his opponent's offense for the majority of Monday's game, enabling the Jaxx to cruise to a 12-3 victory.
“He was on today,” Jaxx coach Zak Knapp said of Williams. “His fastball has a lot of movement and so when he hits his spots like he did today, he can be very good. It's all about location for him and he had it.”
Besides the complete game performance the Jaxx received from Williams, the squad also posted runs in every inning to provide plenty of support. The game was blown up in the sixth following a four-run burst by the Jaxx.
Nate Amos was 3-for-4 with two RBIs while Logan McKinney went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and Devin Hall went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Geiger received an RBI from Caleb Cribb, yet couldn't solve the pitching puzzle that was Williams on Monday. Cribb was his counterpart on the mound and suffered the loss.
Game No. 2 of the evening's doubleheader was not completed until after press deadline.
“We are trying to go out with high intensity and passion every game from here on out,” Knapp said. “Hopefully, we can match this outing.”
