  • A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital after he collided with a van Wednesday in north Leavenworth, a police spokesman said.
The accident was reported at 2:21 p.m. Wednesday at Fifth and Pawnee streets.
A 42-year-old Easton man was traveling south on Fifth Street on a 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. A 41-year-old Leavenworth man was driving west on Pawnee in a 1992 GMC van.
The driver of the van stopped at a stop sign, but then pulled out in front of the motorcycle, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.
"The driver of the van stated he just didn't see the motorcycle," Nicodemus said.
The Easton man had abrasions to his right arm. He was transported by Leavenworth County EMS to the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kan.
The Leavenworth man was cited for an allegation of failing to yield from a stop sign.
