I went on vacation to the North Conway area of New Hampshire last week, and had a great time. The kids went boating, swimming, hiking, fishing, and we made our first trip to Storyland. Really just an amazing time with the family. Oh, and I drank some New Hampshire beers too.

First up was Squam Brewing Company I was able to get this at Discount Beverage in Conway. They had a number of their beers there, but I chose No Wake Wheat since I was in the mood for a wheat ale. It was really good. Just a perfect wheat ale with hints of banana, citrus, and aroma of peaches.Squam

I then got some Altitude from Tuckerman’s Brewing. Wonderful beer. It was really malty, and sweet, In fact, it made me start to rethink all of the hoppy beers I love, but that’s a different blog.

What trip wouldn’t be complete to the North Conway area without going to Moat Mountain? Answer, none. Anyway, I had their Kolsch, and their Matilda’s Red Ale. The Kolsch was good, but their Red Ale was more memorable. In my quest to find a really good red ale this made my top five list easily.

I also picked up Henniker Brewing Company’s Slop Slinger. A very good IPA, and was perfect for a night of having to listen to extended family members talk about stuff I didn’t want to listen to.

All in all this was a fun trip that allowed me to try a good variety of New Hampshire beers. I’ll be headed back to New Hampshire soon, and will be trying some more while I’m there, and will report back on what I had as well. The family will be with me too, but the beers will be all for me.
