The Leavenworth Police Department is investigating a homicide from early this morning.

At about 3 a.m. today, 31-year-old Dick Mathis was brought to a local hospital by two associates. He had a gunshot wound, according to Leavenworth Police Chief Pat Kitchens.

Mathis was pronounced dead at the hospital. Witnesses reported he received a gunshot wound inside a vehicle while driving in the city of Leavenworth. Detectives continue to investigate the case. No arrests have been made, according to Kitchens.
