The trophy case of 2013 Leavenworth grad Michael Baillergeon continues to grow.
The former Pioneer baseball star, who graduated this past spring, was recently given two national accolades.
First, the outfielder was selected to the 2013 National High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Region 5 Midwest Team.
The squad tabs the best players, according to the association, across the states of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska and North Dakota.
Secondly, the future University of Kansas student was picked by the USA Today for the 2013 All-USA Kansas Baseball Team.
“He finally reached his potential,” Allison said back in late May.
“He is a phenomenal athlete, has always worked real hard and this year he just dialed it to a new level.”
The recognitions were one of many that the Pioneer received this past season.
After finishing with a .456 batting average, an on-base percentage of .512 and 25 RBIs, Baillergeon was selected first-team all-State, first-team all-Sunflower and was an honorable mention selection for the Sunflower League Play of the Year award.
He also became the first Leavenworth in school history to be named the Class 5A State Player of the Year.
Baillergeon will try to walk onto the University of Kansas baseball team next spring.
