A woman reported that she was robbed over the weekend while walking in an alley in downtown Leavenworth, a police spokesman said.
The incident was said to have occurred around 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of Shawnee Street.
The victim, a 22-year-old Leavenworth woman, reported that she was walking in the alley with a friend, who's also a woman, when two men approached.
One of the men knocked the victim to the ground. The two men then reportedly took her wallet, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.
The victim went to the hospital to be treated for injuries she suffered during the incident.
"She struck her head on the ground and she was apparently kicked," Nicodemus said.
Nothing happened to the victim's friend during the incident, according to Nicodemus.
Police met with the victim at the hospital. The incident was reported to police at 11:08 p.m.
The police don't have detailed descriptions of the two men. The suspects have been described as possibly being in their 20s.
Nicodemus said the victim did not have a substantial amount of money in her wallet.
He said police continue to investigate the case.
