Ways you can help kids be ready for school when it starts August 13.

School starts August 13 for most students in El Dorado. Children living in low income homes your need help to be ready to learn when they start the new school year.


Stuff the Bus.

Next time you shop at the Wal-Mart here in El Dorado, please purchase extra school supplies to be donated to local students who come to school without needed supplies. There are “Stuff the Bus” bins near the store exits where you can leave your donations.


Help spread the word about The Salvation Army’s SCHOOL SUPPLIES VOUCHER PROGRAM for low income families In Butler County Who: Students in Kindergarten through 12th grade who qualify for free lunches.

What: A free school supplies voucher for use at Wal-Mart stores.

When: August 1, 2, 5, 6, 7 & 8 -- office hours are 10am - noon & 1pm - 3:30pm

Where: The Salvation Army, 207 W. First, El Dorado, KS.

You must bring with you: • proof of food stamps (SNAP) & your I.D. • proof of address (such as a bill with your name & address on it) • Social Security cards for everyone who lives in your home.


Please donate gently used or new clothing -- for infants through high school aged children -- to a BACK TO SCHOOL CLOTHING GIVEAWAY sponsored by the First United Methodist Church. This annual program will be held this year on Saturday August 10, 8:30 am - 11:30 am.
