A Leavenworth woman was transported this morning following a wreck on the Kansas Turnpike thought to be caused by rainy conditions.
Linda Smith, 52, of Leavenworth, was a passenger in a 2000 Honda being driven east by Jacqueline Marie Scott of Shawnee, Kan., on the Turnpike. According to a report on the wreck from the Kansas Turnpike Authority, at about 7:15 a.m. Scott lost control of the vehicle when water splashed over the barrier wall. The vehicle went into a ditch and overturned one time at milepost 416.5 near the Turner Diagonal in Wyandotte County, according to the KTA.
Both Scott and Smith were wearing seatbelts, though Smith was transported to a hospital for her injuries.
