  • Three event highlights
    1. The sixth annual Jazz by the River will be held Saturday at the Leavenworth High School Performing Arts Center. The event is a fundraising concert for the Richard Allen Cultural Center. The RACCM shares revenue from the concert's ticket sales with qualifying partner organizations, according to Ron Coaxum, one of the organizers of the event.

    2. The featured artists for this year are the father-daughter duo of Maurice and Shanice Hayes, who were semi-finalists on the seventh season of the television program "American’s Got Talent."

    3. There will be a social hour at 5 p.m. Saturday before the two-hour concert begins at 6 p.m.

    Why you should attend:
The Richard Allen Cultural Center's motto is “Unity for the Love of All People” and Jazz by the River is about coming together to celebrate the idea behind the motto, according to Coaxman.
"Coming together as a community is our way of encouraging our community to work together to tackle the tough issues we face," he said.
