Julius D. Cord
88, Okemos, Mich.
Born August 12, 1925 in Leavenworth, Kan., to Edward and Anna Cord passed away on his birthday at the age of 88. Julius was a graduate of IMAC High School and then attended the University of Kansas and was a Korean War Veteran. He worked for Missouri Valley Steel and was District Sales Manager for Stran-Steel Division of National Steel. Upon retirement he owned Cord Marketing. Julius was a member of Leavenworth Country Club, the Jaycees and Power Squadron. He loved bowling, golfing, fishing, hunting, sailing and playing cards. He was the author of 2 books "Lickskillet: The Story of a Kansas Boy Growing Up in the Thirties" and "Lickskillet Revisited".
Julius is survived by his wife, Betty of Okemos, Mich., sister, Rose Lovell of Leavenworth, numerous nieces and nephews, and great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Clark and George, and sisters, Dixie Forbes and June Franklin.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 19, 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 711 N. 5th Street, Leavenworth. Interment will follow at Mount Muncie Cemetery in Lansing, Kan. The family will receive friends at R. L. Leintz Funeral Home, 4701 10th Ave, Leavenworth, Kan. on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. where the Rosary will be prayed at 2 p.m.
