Hel-lo-oh Leavenworth! Here are just a few upcoming events happening at your Leavenworth Public Library!
Brandi Bond, of the circulation department, has painted your Leavenworth Public Library's entry in the Miniature Carousel Horse Painting/Decorating Contest, which is a fundraiser for the C. W. Carousel Museum.
Be sure to check it out at the circulation desk! Show your appreciation for our artistic entry and vote with your money. Voting ends Sept. 15. I have no doubt our library's entry takes home the prize, "The People's Choice Winner"! Not sure what I am talking about? Drop by and see us for more details!
Please join us Wednesday, beginning at 10 a.m., when our Kansas State

Senator Steve Fitzgerald presents your Leavenworth Public Library with the book "Read All About It" by authors Laura and Jenna Bush.
Guru Molly D explores some of the best book sharing sites available. You don't want to miss this free action packed hour of discovery which is happening Aug. 18 at 2 p.m.
September roars out of the gate for your library with a plethora of adult, teen, and kids' programming!
With the return of story time on Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning at 10 a.m., to Bilingual Story Time once a month featuring Miss Diana, who disguises learning as fun, your Leavenworth Public Library is the place to be! Did I mention the zombies . . . ? They will just have to wait for another day!
With the end of our summer reading adventures comes GREAT REVEALS. Here are the winners of the Adult Summer Reading Program and the teen summer reading challenge. Octavia Wells took first place in the teen reading challenge and won the Kindle Fire HD. Rachel Martin came in second and received three tickets to Worlds of Fun. Congratulations to both! Check out our website for videos!
Kim Baker drew the winner for the adult summer reading contest @ exactly 4:42 p.m. Monday.

Out of 83 submitted ballots, Andrea Long's was drawn. Andrea's staff pick was "Taming of the Shrew" written by the immortal William Shakespeare. After 136 checkouts of 53 staff picks, it's safe to say that your library staff has the reader's advisory or interests of our patrons at heart!
Wait! I haven't finished! Staff won some prizes too! Cheryl Boisson, from circulation, took the most checkouts award with eight checkouts for her pick "Habits of the House," a Downton Abbyish book. Jodi Miller and Cheryl Boisson, both of circulation, tied for the number of ballots returned award for their picks.

They each had five ballots or reviews returned. I am not going to point out the staff winners are all from circulation . . .
We had fun this summer and look forward to a festive fall filled with flavor and ????
