A Leavenworth man reported to police he'd been threatened with a handgun. But the suspect in the case said he'd been holding only a cell phone, a police spokesman said.
No arrest has been made in the case, which is classified as a report of an aggravated assault. The incident was reported at 1 a.m. Friday in the 700 block of Cherokee Street.
The victim, a 28-year-old man, told police he had gone to the suspect's apartment looking for his girlfriend. The victim reported that the 34-year-old suspect answered the door with a pistol in his hand, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.
The victim said he felt threatened, alleging the firearm was pointed in his direction, according to Nicodemus.
The deputy chief said the case will be forwarded to the County Attorney's Office for evaluation for possible charges.
