A pregnant woman was taken to the hospital following a rollover accident early Wednesday morning in southwest Leavenworth County, according to a report from the Sheriff's Office.
The accident was reported at 12:22 a.m. Wednesday north of Cantrell Road on U.S. 24-40.
The 30-year-old woman's injuries appeared to be minor, and there was no indication the accident had caused problems for her unborn child, according to Undersheriff Jim Sherley.
The woman, who is six months pregnant, was driving north on U.S. 24-40 in a 2007 Pontiac Vibe when a deer entered the roadway. She swerved into the southbound lane to avoid the deer. She over corrected when attempting to return to the northbound lane. The vehicle began to slide and went into a ditch. It rolled onto its roof, according to the report.
The driver was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital by Leavenworth County EMS.
The vehicle was considered a total loss.
