    Stacey Coggburn, parking enforcement officer for the Leavenworth Police Department, hands a driver a $1 bill Tuesday morning at the intersection of Spruce Street and Broadway. Representatives of the Police Department and Ali Zeck's State Farm Insurance office were handing out dollar bills to drivers who were wearing seat belts.

    They were handing out the money as part of the "Bucks for Buckles" seat belt awareness campaign, which is sponsored by Safe Kids Kansas, State Farm and the Kansas Department of Transportation. Similar events are being held in a total of 37 cities in Kansas through Sept. 7.

    The group from the Leavenworth Police Department and local insurance office handed out $210 in $1 bills Tuesday. The money was provided by Safe Kids Kansas. It took about 30 minutes to distribute the money.
