  • Two people were arrested for alleged drug and weapons crimes Monday in north Leavenworth, according to a Sheriff's Office spokesman.
The arrests were made around 2 p.m. Monday by members of the Leavenworth County Sheriff's Office.
Officers first arrested a 34-year-old Leavenworth man in the 900 block of Cheyenne Street. He was stopped by officers because he was known to have several arrest warrants for drug and weapons charges, according to Undersheriff Jim Sherley.
The man reportedly was found to be in possession of a firearm. And in addition to the warrants, he was arrested for allegations of an aggravated weapons violation involving a convicted felon and felony possession of a stolen firearm.
A 29-year-old Leavenworth woman then was arrested at Ninth and Pawnee streets as she was on her way to see the other suspect, according to Sherley.
The woman was arrested for allegations of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a stolen firearm and criminal possession of a weapon. She also had existing arrest warrants for drug charges.
