According to city of Lansing staff, unexpected groundwater problems were encountered under South Ethel Lane between Ida Street and Meadowlark Lane, delaying completion of the road project. Significant reconstruction work is required on this section of road before it can be paved and re-opened to traffic. The length of time this section of road will be closed has not been determined.
Paving will continue on schedule for the remainder of South Ethel Lane. Access to South Ethel during repairs can be made from Brookridge Street and Meadowlark Lane, or from Bittersweet Street and Brook Meadow Road.
Because of initial delays associated with South Ethel Lane, paving on Emile Street is now anticipated to take place Wednesday.
