  • Two men were arrested after they allegedly threw a car jack at each other during an argument.
The incident was reported at 10:23 p.m. Friday in the 1600 block of Terry Street.
Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department, said officers responded to that location after police received a report of a disturbance.
An investigation revealed that a 60-year-old Platte City, Mo., man allegedly had thrown a car jack at a 50-year-old Leavenworth man. The Leavenworth man then allegedly threw the jack at the other man, according to Nicodemus.
The Leavenworth man also is alleged to have used the jack to smash the windshield of a truck belonging to the 60-year-old man.
The 60-year-old man was bleeding from the face after the altercation and he was checked at the scene by Leavenworth County EMS personnel, according to Nicodemus.
"He was punched in the face several times," Nicodemus said.
The 60-year-old man is accused of using a wooden ax handle as a weapon, striking the other man several times.
Both men were arrested for allegations of aggravated battery. The 50-year-old man also was arrested for an allegation of criminal damage to property.
Nicodemus said the argument reportedly concerned a vehicle belonging to the wife of the 60-year-old suspect. The man reportedly was trying to get back the vehicle.
