Two drivers were taken to the hospital after a collision Saturday afternoon northwest of Leavenworth, according to a report from the Sheriff's Office.
The accident was report at 2:39 p.m. Saturday at U.S. 73 at the Salt Creek Bridge.
A 57-year-old Revenel, S.C., woman was driving west on U.S. 73 in a 2012 Dodge Avenger and had gotten lost. She realized she was traveling in the wrong direction. She attempted to turn left into a field entrance in order to turn around.
A 21-year-old Atchison woman was driving west in a 1995 Ford F-150. She attempted to pass the Dodge vehicle on the left, not realizing the other driver was making a turn, according to the report.
The South Carolina woman was transported by Leavenworth County EMS to Saint John Hospital. The other driver was transported to Saint Luke's Cushing Hospital.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene, according to the report.
