  • A Leavenworth man was killed Saturday night when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck, a police spokesman said.
Glenn C. Swann, 28, was pronounced dead at scene, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.
The accident was reported at 8:27 p.m. Saturday on Eisenhower Road west of 10th Avenue.
Nicodemus said a 31-year-old Leavenworth woman, whose name was not released, was driving a 1999 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck. She was exiting a parking lot at the Walmart store and attempting to turn east onto Eisenhower Road.
Swann was traveling west on Eisenhower on a 2008 Honda CBR motorcycle. The motorcycle collided with the driver-side door of the pickup. Swann was ejected from the motorcycle. He was wearing a helmet.
The driver of the pickup suffered minor injuries. She was checked at the scene by Leavenworth County EMS personnel, but she was not transported to the hospital, Nicodemus said.
Her two passengers were not injured.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Nicodemus said the initial investigation indicated that the motorcycle had been traveling at a high rate of speed. The deputy chief said this also was indicated by witnesses.
"However, we still are going through a thorough investigation to determine what happened," Nicodemus said.
He said no final conclusions have been drawn. No traffic citations have been issued as a result of the accident.
Nicodemus said he doesn't know at this point how fast the motorcycle had been traveling.
"That is something we hope to determine through investigation," he said.
