The Lady Pioneers went 1-1 at Shawnee Mission South on Thursday.
Leavenworth lost 2-0 against SM South, but picked up the 2-0 victory over Shawnee Mission Northwest.
The Lady Pioneers took the first set from SM NW 25-15 and won the second set 25-20.
“In the match against northwest, the girls did a great job recovering and played some smart volleyball,” said head coach Josh Padilla. “We continue to get better every match. A few players had a tough night, but as a team the girls stepped up and helped each other out. I am especially proud of Michelle Tennant who stepped up and took a significant leadership role both on and off the court. I believe it really made the difference in getting us back on track.”
The senior Tennant had 17 kills and 13 digs on the night.
The Lady Pioneers lost to SM South 25-20 in the first set and lost 13-25 in the second set.
“We came out very flat against south,” Padilla said. “Nothing was going right. We made too many errors and gave away too many points.”
Leavenworth is at Shawnee Mission East at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
