"Today, the House passed legislation absolutely necessary to keep the government open and continue providing vital services for Americans. This bill is a straight-forward extension that does not increase spending, defunds the president's health care law, and prevents a government shutdown.
"While the president refuses to act, Kansans who are struggling to fight for themselves and their families in this weak economy have sent me to Washington to fight for them – to help make life a little easier for them. This is what I intend to do, and it starts with repealing and replacing the president's health care law. It is now the responsibility of the U.S. Senate to give the American people a real debate about the punishing impacts of this unworkable law."
