1. How did the Lansing Lions Booster Club get the idea to host a Texas Hold 'Em poker night and does it have to do with the popularity of the game?
Several members of our club have participated in other tournaments that have been successful. In addition, poker remains a popular game to watch on television and in the local area.

2. What are some of the activities at Lansing Middle School and Lansing High School that the club will use the funds that are raised for?
In the recent past we have funded new head sets for the high school football coaches, new weight equipment for the high school weight room, Tee-shirts for choir, the academic and student achievement banners at the middle school and have also supported Op Grad, just to name a few. Any extracurricular activity - sports or academic - may request funds from the Booster Club at any time throughout the year.

3. When and where will the poker tourney be and how does it work exactly?
The tournament will be held on Sept. 28 at the Lansing Community Center, on the corner of 4-H Road and Main Street. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for registration and dinner. Game play begins at 6:30 p.m., with the first break at 8:30 p.m. $40 pays entry into the tournament, $4,000 in chips and dinner. Drinks are by donation. You will also have the opportunity to purchase tickets for 50/50 and raffle prizes. The evening's festivities end at approximately 10:30 p.m. We take cash, checks and credit cards.

4. What will the prizes be and can anyone enter the tournament?
Top monetary prizes are $400, $250 and $100. Raffle prizes include an iPad Mini, 3-month membership to Genesis Health Club, $50 gift certificate from Fou Cakes, two spray tan visits from Celsius Tannery, a Carhart work coat, $20-$25 gift cards from TenPenny, June's Cottage, Artistic Works by Lu, Complete Nutrition, an Herbalife Gift Basket and much, much more! Anyone over the age of 21 may enter the tournament. If you'd like to just come and eat and watch the game play, you can do that for $10.

5. What other fundraisers do the Lansing Lions Booster Club have planned?
We just held the Chili Supper before Homecoming last week.
Ongoing fundraisers: Lansing Lion merchandise sales at home football, volleyball and basketball games and track meets; home volleyball game and track meet concession stands; and (a new one this year!) spirit yard signs.
We will also support the Fine Arts Fair in May.
