A Jake Forrest header goal in the first half and strong defense helped the Lansing Lions get a 1-0 win over Topeka Monday night. At the 26-minute mark, a Lansing shot hit the post and Forrest knocked it in off a header. “We started the game strong tonight,” said head coach Billy Dillon. Topeka started to get aggressive with an attack late in the game, but the Lions were able to hold it off. “The defense responded with some great plays to stop it along with our senior goalkeeper Brisco Elliott,” Dillon said. The Lions play at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Turner for the Sept. 19 rainout.
