Richard Lee Brooks, 72, passed away September 14, 2013 at home in St. Joseph Illinois with family by his side, after battling cancer for a year. Richard was born January 25, 1941 in Leavenworth Kansas, the son of Harry and Dorothy Brooks. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Judy Anderson Brooks, his brother, Harry Brooks Jr, his sister, Karen Godfrey, his daughter, Lisa Harter, his daughter, Geraldine Einhellig and his daughter in law, Kim Einhellig. Survivors include his sister, Linda Guinto (husband Ray), son, Rick Cole, son, Ed Einhellig, son, Terry Carl Brooks (wife Earlene), daughter, Dorcie Fox (husband Seth), son, Cliff Brooks (wife Tracy), as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There will be no funeral services for his wish was for us to rejoice in him going home. Richard grew up in Leavenworth Kansas. He graduated there and worked for many years at the Leavenworth Water Department. He also spent time on the volunteer fire department in Lansing Kan. On August 20, 1965, he married the love of his life Judy Anderson. They raised their family In Kansas and then went on to work together helping at risk youth living in Childrens Homes in Missouri and Illinois. Richard was a member of Meadowbrook Community Church. He spent countless hours and many years studying and sharing his knowledge of The Bible. He was a strong believer. One of the his parting sentiments to his family was "Christians don't say goodbye – they say See you later" We miss you Dad……. We'll see you later.
