16.7 percent: One of the most sought-after career credentials in the tech industry is the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Routing and Switching. Tech professionals with this certification take home salaries that are, on average, 16.7 percent higher than their uncertified peers, according to a Fairfield Research study. This certification acknowledges that someone is skilled to install, configure, operate and troubleshoot routed and switched networks.

Thinner. Lighter. Faster. More powerful. That should sum-up the second-generation of Microsoft Surface tablets introduced Sept. 23. The new Surface Pro 2 and the new version of what used to be called Surface RT, renamed Surface 2, are slimmed down, with faster processors, sharper touchscreens, longer battery life and better accessories. They go on sale in 22 markets beginning Oct. 22.
