  • Dawn Monroe of Sis' Sweets and Nancy Klemp with the C.W. Parker Carousel Museum look over entries from a recent miniature carousel horse painting contest Friday at the museum. Thirty-one local businesses and organizations participated in the contest, which was organized through the museum by Klemp and Larry Everitt. A miniature carousel horse decorated for Sis' Sweets was the grand champion in the "People's Choice Race" portion of the competition and Monroe was presented a plaque.

Members of the public voted for their favorite miniature carousel horses by donating money. Each cent equaled one vote. The horse that raised the most money won the "People's Choice Race." Klemp said the contest raised a little more than $2,000 for the museum. The entry from Sis' Sweets was named "Wizard of C.W. Parker." It is pictured in Monroe's hand. It was painted by Monroe's daughter, Amanda.
