Immaculata was able to keep it close in the first half of Friday’s Homecoming game, but the second half on Saturday was all Jefferson County North. The Chargers scored two offensive touchdowns and a defensive touchdown on Saturday to win 32-8. JCN led 12-8 before the game was postponed to Saturday because of thunderstorms. The Raiders were down 12-0 late in the first half, but Drew Sachen threw a 61-yard touchdown pass to Cory Holcomb to pull within four heading into the half. Neither team could score in the third quarter. The Raiders fumbled twice and punted once in the quarter. They also punted on the first play of the fourth quarter. The Chargers turned the ball over three times in the third quarter. Holcomb had an interception, the Raiders recovered a fumble and the Chargers turned it over on downs. JCN got things rolling in the final 12 minutes, though. The Chargers only faced one third down play on a nine-play touchdown drive to start the fourth quarter. It made it 18-8 JCN. On the ensuing Immaculata drive, Justin Varney threw an interception that was returned for a score to make it 25-8. The Chargers added a 30-yard touchdown run and an extra point in the final minute of the game. The loss makes the Raiders 0-5 and the Chargers picked up their first win of the season. The Raiders will play at Oskaloosa (2-3) at 7 p.m. Friday.
