A Leavenworth woman was taken to the hospital after her vehicle overturned Monday night near Lansing, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The accident was reported at 10:46 p.m. Monday near Kansas 5 Highway and Tontine Road.

An 18-year-old woman was driving northwest on K-5 in a 1997 Ford Ranger pickup truck when a deer crossed the road. The driver tried to avoid hitting the deer, and the truck went into a ditch. She overcorrected and the vehicle crossed the roadway before going into another ditch, according to the report.

The woman, who apparently had not been wearing a seat belt, was taken to Saint John Hospital for what was described in the report as a possible injury.
