Leavenworth Main Street Program is hosting The Witch's Ball Saturday from 6 to 11 p.m. in Haymarket Square.

1. Can you tell us who is organizing the Witches Ball this year and how the idea got started?
Well the idea took root with Maryann Neeland, who helped organize it the first two years, this year it is organized by a handful of local residents who enjoy Halloween and want to have a fun event for all ages.

2. When and where will the event be and do you have to dress as a witch to attend?
The Witch's Ball is Saturday, Oct. 12, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., located at Haymarket Square. You do not have to dress as a witch, but we do encourage people to wear any kind of costume acceptable for an all-ages event.

3. The event will include food, beer and beverages, vendors, costume contest and psychic readings. What are some of the interesting offerings that vendors will have for attendees to choose from?
There will be a children's area, for $1., Children will be able to play multiple games and win additional free prizes, as well as seasonal themed vendors, not to mention a new direction for the entertainment this year.

4. Can you tell us about the live local music that will be offered by Rebel Act.? What will the live auction present for the public to bid on besides the cleverly decorated witches hats?
Rebel act is a high school rock band that plays hits from hairbands, and a few of their own original pieces. Their sound is amazingly polished, and they are surely on their way towards being signed one day. I am betting this will be one of the last free shows they play because they are that good. The auction will be just witch's hats, that have been decorated by volunteers. There were some amazing hats last year that caused some frenzied bidding.

5. What is the most fun part of attending a Witch's Ball and can people of all ages enjoy the event? Who should people call for more information?
The best part of attending The Witch's Ball is to share your love of the season with others, wearing those costumes, showing off your imaginations, and dancing to the live entertainment.
We do encourage people of all ages to attend. We want this to continue long into the future as a regularly occurring fall festive event bringing the residents of the First City together for fun, and anyone who would like to know more are more than welcome to call Main Street at 682-3924. They are proud to sponsor this event.
