A 13-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after his bicycle was struck by a car Thursday morning in Leavenworth, a police spokesman said.

The boy was being treated Thursday for injuries that were serious but not considered life-threatening, according to Leavenworth Police Chief Pat Kitchens.

Kitchens said police were still investigating the accident, which was reported around 10:15 a.m. Thursday in the area of Fourth Avenue and Prospect Street. The boy was one of three children who were riding bikes in the area.
