To the editor:
As I read Tuesday's "Letters to the Editor," I was taken aback by the words used by some of the writers. Equating Democrats to communists – " ...is totally dedicated to communism... Democrats need to be reminded that millions of patriotic Americans have consistently voted to stop their communist schemes to destroy our country."
How about the millions of patriotic Americans who disagree with the writer, and "the majority of Americans do not want Obamacare," These statements are inflammatory and based on assumption(s). I am not taking sides on this issue, I am on the side of the American government which is suppose to function like a democratic body.
Voting for your representative and senator is expressing your opinion on the issues in this country. They, the elected officials in your district/state represent the majority opinion in their district/state due to winning the vote. So what is the reason that they can not allow a vote on this issue in the House of Representative on a bill without riders?
I can suggest and or surmise the reasons but I am not going to because all I want them to do is to follow the process laid down by the people of this land. When there is a vote, the results will determine the future of the Affordable Care Act.
Then if a group wishes to change the law, then there is a process to follow. Prohibition was overturned by the voters so what are the reasons that the elected officials cannot follow a proven path of democracy?
